HAV Design to support vessel upgrade

2 March 2026 – Norway-based ship designer HAV Design has been awarded a contract to provide design and engineering services for the upgrade of a previously designed vessel.

Several years after entering service, the undisclosed vessel will now be upgraded with the latest technology solutions to further boost its operational efficiency.

“To be able to contribute towards further enhancing the efficiency of this vessel, several years after we originally designed it, is a special moment for us,” says Richard Schofield, managing director of HAV Design.

HAV Design will manage design and engineering for upgrade and installation of several solutions that will further improve the vessel’s performance.

“Converting and refitting vessels have become a financially and operationally attractive opportunity for vessel owners. We possess unique ship design expertise within the aquaculture, energy and transport segments that allows us to manage efficient conversion projects. Our background from shipbuilding also gives us an advantage when it comes to choosing efficient solutions for both the shipowner and the executing yard,” says Gisle Vinjevoll Thrane, SVP Sales at HAV Design.
