HAV Design has decided not to submit a pre-qualification application in the ongoing tender related to standardised vessels for the Royal Norwegian Navy (P1118). The decision is a strategic one, rooted in the company’s prioritisation of capacity and its role in the maritime value chain.
“We have the expertise to take part in all types of projects, but we choose to use our capacity where we create the greatest value – through designing vessels within our core areas. At the same time, we remain available as a supporting partner for the actors who will deliver the vessels, and we can contribute our shipbuilding expertise when Norway needs support in maritime preparedness,” says Richard Schofield, CEO of HAV Design.
HAV Design supports the intention behind the project and emphasises the importance of standardised vessels in enhancing preparedness, cost-effectiveness and the further development of the Norwegian maritime industry.
As a specialist and independent design company with no ties to shipyards or system suppliers, HAV Design is making its expertise available to the parties that are awarded responsibility for the further design and construction of the vessels.
The company will continue to prioritise the development and design of vessels within energy, transport and aquaculture – segments in which HAV Design currently holds its strongest market position and has significant project activity.
“Our aim is to contribute where our expertise has the greatest impact, both for our customers and for Norway as a maritime nation,” says Richard Schofield, CEO of HAV Design.
